ALAMOSA, Colo. - #22 Colorado School of Mines stretched its win streak to eight matches as it took care of Adams State 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-23, 25-15) on Saturday.
The Orediggers (14-3, 8-0 RMAC) bounced back from slow hitting over the first two sets to win running away, including a .417 fourth set to beat the Grizzlies (7-10, 3-5 RMAC).
The duo of
Lindsey Jin and
Abby Tiesman led Mines at the net as Jin had 15 kills hitting .382 and Tiesman put down 13 kills hitting .400, and added seven blocks.
Madeline Behr also hit twin figures with 11 kills, and
Janice Jin added eight.
LaRose Currie continued to lead the defense with 21 digs to go with four aces, while
Marina Hansen had 48 assists and seven digs to spark the offense.
Mines eased to a first-set win, 25-19, but was held to .027 in the second as ASU knotted it 1-1. Mines then had to rally back from a deficit in the third set, using a 7-2 run in the middle to take control and win 25-23, before shutting down ASU to the tune of -.097 hitting while notching a .417 rate themselves to run away with the fourth 25-15.
The win ties Mines atop the RMAC standings at 8-0 with Regis; the two will not meet until Oct. 28 as both MSU Denver and CCU lurk a game behind.
Mines returns home next weekend to host Western State and Colorado Mesa on Friday and Saturday.
