Mines Shuts Down SEU In 59-39 Win

FORT SMITH, Ark. - Colorado School of Mines held St. Edward's to 18.8 percent shooting to pick up their first win of the season, 59-39, at the Conference Challenge Tournament at UAFS.

The Orediggers (1-1) were led by Anna Kollmorgen's 11-point, 11-rebound, 5-assist double-double and Emily Bailey's 13 points. Nicole Archambeau had 10 points and eight boards to go with two steals.

It was a tight opening to the game with neither side leading by more than four in the first quarter, and it was tied 19-19 midway through the second. A Cassidy Budge three-pointer, however, sparked an 8-0 run that helped give the Orediggers a 27-21 halftime lead.

Mines held the Hilltoppers to only seven points in the third quarter, then scored 19 in the fourth to pull away with the win as SEU shot a dismal 5-for-32 in the second half and 12-for-64 for the game.

St. Edward's was led by Lexi Cunningham's 13 points. Mines held a 49-44 rebounding edge in the game. Mines' defensive effort resulted in the lowest scoring output by an opponent since 2015-16, when the Orediggers held Western New Mexico to 37 points.

Mines opens up at home next Friday, hosting Central Washington at 5 p.m.
