DENVER - MSU Denver outlasted #17 Colorado School of Mines in the RMAC Tournament semifinals, overcoming a 2-1 deficit to win 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12) on Friday.
The Roadrunners (21-7) advance to Saturday's final against top-seeded Regis, who beat Colorado Christian 3-0. The Orediggers (24-5) end their tournament early, but at #3 in this week's regional rankings seem to be a safe bet to hear their name called in the NCAA selection show on Sunday.
Lindsey Jin racked up 21 kills while
Marina Hansen turned in her third double-double in four matches with a 54-assist, 10-dig effort that included three aces.
Madeline Behr added 15 kills and
Abby Tiesman 14, while
LaRose Currie led a big defensive effort with 27 digs.
Santaisha Sturges paced MSU Denver with 19 kills and 17 digs, with Taylor Duryea hitting 17 kills.
The two sides alternated the first two sets, and the fifth was tied as late as 12-12 before a Sturges kill and two Mines errors ended the match with the Roadrunners on a 3-0 run.
