GOLDEN, Colo. - #21 Regis caught fire in the final two sets, taking a 3-1 (25-23, 14-25, 25-22, 25-19) decision over #20 Colorado School of Mines in a non-RMAC match on Wednesday.
The Rangers (8-1) hit .314 for the match while holding Mines (6-3) to .162 over the final two sets to break open a tie match.
Mines had four attackers in double figures as
Madeline Behr (16K),
Lindsey Jin (15K),
Janice Jin (13K), and
Ellie Monarch (10K) got on the end of the majority of
Marina Hansen's 55 assists.
LaRose Currie had a match-high 15 digs.
Caitlyn Burroway led the Rangers with 15 kills, and Kristen Hornung had 13 kills.
Regis scratched out a tight first set 25-23, but it was all Mines in the second as the Orediggers hit a red-hot .483 to Regis' .174. The Rangers flipped the script in the third, however, holding Mines to .154 while hitting .400 themselves, and then got up big in the fourth, taking advantage of Mines errors to get a 25-19 win.
Mines begins RMAC play Friday night at New Mexico Highlands.
