COLORADO SPRINGS - Two first-half goals from
John Haist keyed Colorado School of Mines to its sixth straight win as they beat UCCS 3-0 to stay perfect in RMAC play.
The Orediggers (6-2, 4-0 RMAC) stayed atop the league table with the win as Haist, the RMAC's leading scorer, tallied twice for the second consecutive game to take his season total to 10.
Nikolaus Grotz added a late third goal as Mines held a dominating 29-14 shots advantage.
The Mines defense was equally excellent as
Collin Hall worked his third consecutive shutout with five saves.Â
Haist put Mines on the board with a short-range finish from Grotz and
Trevor Amann at 23:37, then doubles Mines' lead with a minute left in the half as he cleaned up a rebounded Grotz shot. Grotz got on the board himself at 77:43, finishing from an angle assisted by
Ben Overholt.
Mines returns home to host Colorado Christian Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Stermole Stadium.
