#4 Mines Wraps Up Perfect RMAC Season With CCU Win

LAKEWOOD, Colo. - #4 Colorado School of Mines completed a perfect RMAC season, beating Colorado Christian 2-0 on a pair of quick-strike goals in the first half to head into the postseason on an 11-game win streak.

The Orediggers (16-1-1, 13-0-0 RMAC) saw Emily Townsend and Audrey Shin scored 1:22 apart late in the first half while outshooting the Cougars (6-8-3, 5-7-1 RMAC) 13-5. The two will meet again in three days as Mines hosts CCU in the quarterfinals of the RMAC Tournament Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Townsend got on the end of Shin's free kick in the 39th minute to put the visitors ahead, and Shin launched a goal of her own in the 40th minute on a rocket from the top of the box to make it 2-0.

It would stay that way despite six second-half shots by the Orediggers; the Mines defense did not allow a shot on goal in the game.

NOTABLES
- Mines will be the #1 seed in the RMAC Tournament with home-field advantage throughout. CCU earned the #8 seed.
- The Orediggers had clinched at least a share of the RMAC regular-season championship last Sunday, but needed a tie or win against the Cougars to earn it outright by three points over UCCS.
- The perfect RMAC record is the second in program history after Mines went 14-0-0 in 2013.
- It was the third straight shutout for the Orediggers. Shannon Mooney did not need to make a save in picking up her 23rd career clean sheet.
- Townsend's goal was her fourth of the year; Shin's was her first. Shin has produced three assists and five points in her last three games.
- The win was the 150th of head coach Kevin Fickes' career. He is 150-28-21 overall and 95-14-9 in RMAC games.

NEXT UP
Mines will host CCU on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the RMAC Tournament quarterfinals. Should the Orediggers advance they would host the semifinals and final on Nov. 2 and 4.
