Tuesday marks the opening round (quarterfinals) of the 2018 RMAC Women's Basketball Tournament. As the No. 4 seed, the Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team plays host to fifth-seeded Regis. The Rangers finished the regular season 14-8 in RMAC play and 15-12 overall. The RMAC Tournament features eight teams in a single-elimination format with the top four seeds hosting the first round and the top remaining seed hosting the semifinals and finals.
 
REGULAR-SEASON FINALE
The Orediggers closed the regular season with a 1-1 weekend on the road. Mines dominated UCCS 81-68 at the Gallogly Events Center. Emily Bailey matched her season high with 28 points while Anna Kollmorgen and Elizabeth Tomon scored 16 and 12, respectively. On Saturday, the Orediggers dropped their final game of the regular season in a 67-53 loss at MSU Denver. Nicole Archambeau posted her 10th double-double of the season and Tomon scored 13.
 
REMEMBERING THE RANGERS
Mines split the regular-season series with Regis, winning 82-74 Dec. 3 in Denver and falling 59-50 Feb. 2 inside Lockridge Arena. The Orediggers are 22-51 in the all-time series with the Rangers but are 3-1 in their last four meetings. In the two contests this season, Emily Bailey paced all players with 20 points per game. Elizabeth Tomon averaged 14 over the two games and Anno Kollmorgen put up 13 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per contest. Regis will look to Mary Sigler who scored 28 points inside Lockridge Arena and Whitney Jacob who dropped 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds at home.
 
POSTSEASON PLAYER TO WATCH
Emily Bailey has produced an outstanding season in her senior campaign. She surpassed 1,000 points for her career Feb. 6 at Colorado Christian and now has 1,068-career points. Bailey finished the regular season averaging 18.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game against the top seven teams in the RMAC standings. Against the top three teams in the League, Bailey put up 17.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest. The Oregonian is second on the team in scoring and leads the Orediggers with 26 blocks on the year.
 
MINES IN THE RMAC TOURNAMENT
Tuesday marks the Orediggers third straight appearance in the RMAC Tourney and 17th postseason appearance since 1993. Head Coach Brittany Simpson has guided her team to four tournaments in six seasons and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2016 for the second time in program history. Mines has made two runs to the RMAC Tournament finals, making its first appearance in the championship game as the No. 8 seed in 2006. The Orediggers also advanced to the title game in 2009 as the No. 3 seed. CSU-Pueblo was Mines' opponent in the finals on both occasions. Mines is 4-16 all-time in the RMAC Tournament.
 
RMAC LEADERS
As a team, Mines was the best rebounding team in the RMAC in 2017-18, generating 41.9 total rebounds per game. The Orediggers also led the league in defensive rebounding at 29.1 boards per game. Individually, Nicole Archambeau led the league with 208 defensive rebounds and was third in overall rebounding with 9.4 boards per game.
