SUNDAY GAMES MOVED UP
Note that Sunday's games have been moved up to a 10 a.m. start time to avoid the forecast for afternoon rain.

THE WEEKEND
After a sweep of UCCS last weekend, Colorado School of Mines (11-4, 8-4 RMAC) stays at home to host Black Hills State (2-14, 2-6 RMAC) on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader has a noon start with Sunday at 11 a.m. All four games will be streamed live on the RMAC Network.

LAST WEEKEND
Mines battled its way to a sweep of UCCS last weekend, their first RMAC sweep of the year. On Saturday, Mines won the opener 7-3 behind Claire Stringfellow's quality start as Clara Larson went 3-for-4 with two RBI at the plate; in game two, Mines edged UCCS 2-1 as Hallie Smith struck out eight. On Sunday, Mines took the opener 5-4 as Larson roped three doubles with three RBI while Maddie Rogers struck out four in the win. The finale saw Mines win 3-0 as Hallie Smith tossed a five-strikeout shutout.

LAST YEAR VS. BHSU
The Orediggers swept Black Hills State in Spearfish thanks to some sterling pitching performances. Mines won 4-1 and 4-3 on the first day as Maddie Rogers and Claire Stringfellow combined to hold BHSU to four hits in game one; Mines won game two thanks to Kara Jones' go-ahead two-run single in the top of the seventh. Another comeback in game three won it 3-1 as Mines trailed 1-0 heading into the seventh before Sonoma Toot's two-run double put Mines ahead for good. In the finale, Hallie Smith tossed a 3-0 shutout as Jones had all three of Mines' RBI.

TAKING TWO
Clara Larson had a Sunday to remember against UCCS, hitting four doubles in seven plate appearances, including three in the first game of the day. Her three doubles tied the Mines single-game record, making her the fifth player in program history to do it and joining teammate Kara Jones, who had three against MSU Denver last year. Larson's day was part of a bigger trend as Mines ranks second in the RMAC with 45 doubles this year; Megan Dickson leads the way with 10 followed by Larson (9), Sonoma Toot (8), and Jones (7).

SHUT 'EM DOWN
Hallie Smith threw her 12th career shutout last weekend in a 3-0 win against UCCS, putting the senior in sole possession of second on the Mines career list behind Kelly Unkrich's record of 23. Smith had an impressive weekend overall, allowing one run over 14.0 innings and striking out 13, including a season-high eight on Saturday.

KEEPING IT 100
Mines head coach Leah Glasgow has a chance to become the fourth coach in program history to reach 100 wins this weekend as she sits on 97 victories. The 2017 RMAC Coach of the Year is fourth on the all-time list behind Mark Roberts (136, 2000-07), Kristie Hawkins (105, 2011-13), and Annie Van Wetzinga (101, 2008-10).

SCOUTING BLACK HILLS STATE
The Yellow Jackets are 2-14 to start the year with both wins coming over CSU-Pueblo. They are led at the plate by Maddi Fidler, who is hitting .404, and Alex Wiley, who slugs .762. Runs have been at a premium for BHSU however, producing 49 to opponents' 127. BHSU has a staff ERA of 8.47 with Melissa Gellermann (6.36, 8 GS, 50.2 IP) the workhorse of the staff.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will visit #1 Colorado Mesa on March 24-25 before returning home for a Friday-Saturday series against Adams State on March 30-31.
