COLORADO SPRINGS – The #25-ranked Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team kept its hot streak going Tuesday with a sweep of UCCS at the Gallogly Events Center as the Orediggers improved to 3-0 in RMAC play and 9-2 on the season.
A well-rounded, team effort propelled Mines to victory.
Janice Jin led the way with 10 kills while
Abby Tiesman added nine, and
Hannah Martin and
Lindsey Jin collected eight kills each.
Drew Stokes dished out assists at a pace over 12.0 assists per set for a total of 37 on the night. Defensively,
Taylor Hicken racked up five total blocks while
Elle Duis and Martin combined for 22 digs.
As a team, the Orediggers held the Mountain Lions (2-9, 0-3 RMAC) to just .092 on the attack. Mines turned in a hitting percentage of .248 and finished the match with seven total blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a match that saw the Orediggers' offense vastly improve from the first set to the final set. Mines hit just .175 in the opening set but took a 25-21 victory behind three kills from Tiesman.
The visitors improved their hitting percentage to .250 in the second game and carried a 2-0 match lead into the intermission. Mines capped the night off with its best set performance of the evening as it hit .333 behind four kills from
Lindsey Jin to clinch the victory.
