NO PLACE LIKE HOME
After a 1-0-1 start to the season, #10 Colorado School of Mines will play at home for the first time in 2018 as they host St. Edward's Friday and Angelo State on Sunday. The Orediggers opened the year with a 3-0 win over San Francisco State, with first-half goals coming from Taylor McRae, Jennifer Kendall, and Hannah Stoner; they then worked a scoreless draw at Chico State on Sunday despite controlling the game with 23 shots.

IN THE POLLS
After starting at #13 in the preseason poll, Mines moved up to #10 in this week's United Soccer Coaches top 25. It is the 39th time that Mines has received a top-10 ranking since 2009; since the start of the 2013 season, the Orediggers have been nationally ranked in 53 of a possible 61 polls.

PRESEASON HONORS
Four Orediggers were named preseason all-RMAC back on Aug. 15: forward Jennifer Kendall, midfielders Taylor McRae and Giselle Sawaged, and back Emily Townsend. The quartet were instrumental in Mines' 2017 success.

NONE SHALL PASS
Mines' defense continues to be outstanding, not allowing a goal on the opening weekend. The Oredigger defense has not allowed a goal in four straight regular-season games dating back to last season, and has given up just one goal in the last 650 minutes of regular-season play. Goalkeeper Shannon Mooney made five saves in the two shutouts as Mines allowed 16 total shots and just five on goal.

JUST FOR A SECOND…
On Sunday at Chico State, for the first time since 2016, Mines had someone other than Shannon Mooney in goal - albeit for only eight seconds. Mooney took a knock on a play midway through the first half and was required to leave the field following the stoppage; with no other goalkeeper on the travel squad for the weekend, midfielder Taylor McRae put on the gloves and watched as Chico State sent a corner kick into the side netting. Mooney re-entered and finished the game, and the shutout was technically split between the two.

BITS AND PIECES
Jennifer Kendall and Taylor McRae are Mines' active scoring co-leaders, each potting their 12th career goals in the season opener against San Francisco State ... Acacia Ortiz is Mines' active points leader with 31 (7 goals, 17 assists) ... Shannon Mooney has lowered her career GAA to 0.47, which would rank second in Mines history ... Giselle Sawaged is due to reach a milestone this weekend with her 50th career appearance for Mines.

SCOUTING ST. EDWARD'S AND ANGELO STATE
St. Edward's (11-3-5 in 2017) is 0-1 to start the year after losing 3-0 at Barry in Florida on Aug. 30. The Hilltoppers were outshot 20-9 in the game. Angelo State is 1-1, having played a pair of familiar opponents in Fort Lewis (a 4-0 win) and Colorado Mesa (a 2-1 overtime loss). The Belles will play Regis Friday night before visiting Mines. Angelo State has scored five goals in two games led by Cassandra Moosburger's two, and Mackenzie Broderick has a goal and two assists.

MINES VS. THE OPPOSITION
Mines has met St. Edward's three times in the past, going 2-1-0 against the Hilltoppers. Mines won 1-0 in overtime in the 2014 regular season before winning 1-0 again in the NCAA Second Round, but lost 1-0 at home in 2015 to then-#22 St. Edward's. It will be the first-ever meeting between Mines and Angelo State.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will begin RMAC play and a five-match road swing next weekend taking on Western State (Sept. 14) and Colorado Mesa (Sept. 16). The Orediggers will not return home until Sept. 28 to host Fort Lewis on Homecoming weekend.
