2019 Collegiate Baseball Preseason DII Poll

TUCSON, Ariz. –
The Colorado School of Mines Baseball team will enter its 2019 campaign ranked #25 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Pre-Season NCAA Division II Poll. The announcement marks the Orediggers' first-ever preseason national ranking.

Mines will also enter the 2019 season under new leadership for the first time since 2012 as head coach Robby Bales takes over for Jerod Goodale as the Orediggers' skipper. Bales inherits a squad that went 37-18 (25-11 RMAC) in 2018 and earned the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament bid. Mines returns 29 players including two All-Americans, ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove first baseman Jace Selsor and the consensus 2018 South Central Regional Player of the Year Mikey Gangwish.

The Orediggers are the second-highest ranked program in the RMAC with Colorado Mesa at #12. Mines is also the fourth-ranked team in the South Central Region as defending champion Texas A&M-Kingsville sits fifth, Mesa 12th, and West Texas A&M at #18. Other teams of note in the poll's top 40 include St. Mary's (Texas) at #37 and Lubbock Christian tied for 40th.

Mines opens the 2019 season Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. (CT) facing Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas. The Orediggers crack their home slate Feb. 9 hosting MSU Billings at Jim Darden Field at 12 p.m. The Yellowjackets also received votes in the preseason national poll. Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) action starts up March 8 as Mines welcomes New Mexico Highlands to Golden.
