GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines Men's Soccer team celebrated the start of Homecoming Weekend with a 2-0 victory over MSU Denver at Stermole Stadium.

With the win, the Orediggers maintain their spot at #1 in the conference standings while extending their unbeaten streak to nine games. The loss marks MSU Denver's second in its last three matches. Mines closes the regular-season series 1-0-1 against the Roadrunners after a 1-1 draw two weeks ago.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a windy, brisk fall night at Stermole Stadium as Mines kicked off its 2019 Homecoming under the lights. And in front of a crowd nearing 200, the Orediggers did not disappoint. Five shots in the first 20 minutes led to Mines' first strike of the game. In the 28th minute, an Oredigger touch to Allan led to a cross that found Overholt on the right side of the goal which he finished with authority to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Then, in the waning minutes of the opening half, Mines added to its lead. Just into the 43rd minute, Stanley carried the ball up the middle of the pitch before chipping passed the Roadrunner defense to Zobott making a run to the backside of the net. The senior defender left no doubt, finishing to the lower left corner of the goal to make it 2-0, Orediggers. That would be all Mines needed as the home squad shut MSU Denver out the rest of the match.
