THIS WEEKEND
Colorado School of Mines will play a three-team RMAC "pod" series this weekend, taking on Chadron State and Adams State twice each. Originally scheduled to be hosted by Chadron State, the pod will be instead be played at CSU-Pueblo's Rawlings Field after the "Bomb Cyclone" targeted the region on Wednesday, rendering CSC's field unplayable. LAST WEEKEND
For the first time since 2012, Colorado School of Mines split a series with Colorado Mesa as Mines took two of four from the #12 Mavericks in Denver. Mines won games 1 and 3 by 5-4 scores while CMU won 8-3 and 4-2; the Orediggers battled in every game as they hit .290 and slugged .458 for the series. Kendall Murphy's walk-off double capped a seventh-inning comeback in the first win while Boston Ludlow's solo home run in the third inning of game three held up as the winning run. Claire Stringfellow had a win and a save while Sydney Marchando also picked up a victory.

EARLY RMAC LOOK
With three weekends of conference play in the books, it's still anybody's championship to be had as there are six teams – Colorado Christian (8-2), Colorado Mesa (9-3), UCCS (8-3), MSU Denver (7-3), Regis (6-3), and Mines (6-3) – with three or fewer conference losses. This weekend's opponents look to improve their standing as Adams State is 5-6 and Chadron State 2-9 in RMAC play.

BOSTON'S BACK
After having not played due to injury since the second week of February, senior first baseman Boston Ludlow returned to the starting lineup in the Colorado Mesa series and made an instant impact for the Orediggers. Ludlow led all Mines hitters in the series slashing .500/.583/.900 and had 2 RBI – including a solo home run – and scored three runs. Ludlow had a huge third game of the series to help Mines win 5-4, going 3-for-3 with the home run and two runs scored.

MURPHY WALKS OFF
There's not much freshman right fielder Kendall Murphy hasn't done already in her young career, as the rookie has set team bests hitting .375 and slugging .554 this season. She added to an outstanding season in game one of the Colorado Mesa series with her first collegiate walk-off, roping a bases-loaded double to the gap to overcome a 4-3 deficit in the 5-4 win. Murphy also recorded her first outfield assist in the series with a 9-3 double play in the second game.

WHATEVER IT TAKES
Senior centerfielder Katie Leiker is hitting a solid .280 this season, but a closer look at her season shows that batting average is only part of the story – Leiker leads Mines with a .438 on-base percentage thanks to a team-high seven walks and an RMAC-best seven hit-by-pitch free passes. That's helped her produce out of the second spit in the lineup with seven runs (second on the team behind lead-off Kendall Murphy) while striking out just six times in 66 plate appearances.

IN THE CIRCLE
Mines' 1-2 starting punch of Claire Stringfellow and Sydney Marchando own the third-lowest staff ERA in the RMAC this season at 3.21, as Stringfellow lowered hers to 2.87 and Marchando sits at 3.06. Marchando, at 5-3, leads Mines in wins and strikeouts (47). Maddie Rogers is also coming off the best appearance of her season as she lowered her ERA to 3.23 with a 3.1-inning, 1-hit relief appearance vs. Colorado Mesa last Saturday.

Heading into this weekend, Kendall Murphy has reached base in all 16 games she's played in, including a five-game hitting streak, while Clara Larson is riding a 10-game reached-base streak. Murphy had a 10-game hitting streak snapped last week, Mines' longest of the season.
