Three-Point Shooting Carries Mines Over Fort Lewis

GOLDEN, Colo. - Lights-out three-point shooting helped Colorado School of Mines pull away and beat Fort Lewis, 86-77, at Lockridge Arena on Saturday.

The Orediggers (11-5, 7-2 RMAC) extended their win streak to three games and remained in a three-way tie for first place in the RMAC.

A night after combining for 36 points, the Mines bench scored 33 led by Kobi Betts' 15 and nine each from Paul O'Leary and Luke Golter. Titus Reed was the first-half spark for Mines with a team-high 17 points while Ben Boone pitched in 14 and Michael Glen 13.

The Orediggers made it rain from the outside, hitting seven of their first nine three-pointers on the way to a 12-for-24 night. Boone had four and Reed and Golter each three from beyond the arc.

Reed had an electric first half with 11 of his 17 points, and Boone nailed three of his four three-pointers before the break to put Mines ahead. A 15-2 run - with all 15 points coming off threes - put Mines ahead 26-13 midway through the half, and they never looked back ending the half on four straight Betts points to lead 42-32.

Mines extended the lead to as much as 21 points in the second half after O'Leary and Glen put down three dunks in succession to take FLC out of the game. The Skyhawks rallied a bit in the closing minutes, ending the game on an 11-1 run, but Mines' lead was too much to overcome.

- Glen played just 20 foul-limited minutes but scored 13 points with three blocks, two steals, and two rebounds as he helped hold one of the nation's leading scorers in Riley Farris to 18 points - six under his average and half of what he scored at UCCS on Friday.
