Career Nights Power Comeback Vs. Chadron State

GOLDEN, Colo. - Career nights from Brendan Sullivan, Kobi Betts, and Ben Boone powered a huge Colorado School of Mines comeback as they defeated Chadron State 95-87 at Lockridge Arena.

The Orediggers (13-7, 9-4 RMAC) trailed by 16 points with 12:48 left in the game, but outscored the Eagles (3-16, 2-11 RMAC) 42-20 over the last 10 minutes to win.

Both Sullivan and Betts drained a career-high 28 points, as Sullivan was 10-of-19 and added eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Betts came off the bench to hit 11 of his 15 shots including four three-pointers, while Boone had a career-high 23 points in a superb 8-of-11 overall, 5-of-8 for three evening.

Jacob Jefferson led Chadron State with a productive 24-point night in the post. He was one of four Eagles in double figures along with Colby Jackson (14), Brian Rodriguez-Flores (13), and Brady Delimont (11).

Mines trailed nearly the entire game as the Eagles were red-hot in the first half, sinking 55.9 percent of their shots on their way to a 46-33 halftime lead. Things got worse before they got better for the Orediggers as a 9-0 Eagle run early in the second half put them up 62-46 - their largest lead of the game - at the 13:01 mark.

Mines slowly began to chip away as the shots started the fall. Betts and Glen put together consecutive buckets and Sullivan's layup made it a 67-55 game, but it was Glen's and-one play with 8:26 to go that sparked the comeback run. That began a 24-6 Mines stretch that saw them erase the deficit on three straight Betts baskets, then take the lead on Sullivan's three-point play with 4:44 to go.

Chadron State quickly retook the lead on Rodriguez-Flores' layup, but Sullivan sank a three and then hit another basket to give Mines the lead for good. Mines shot 4-for-4 from the floor including a pair of threes in the final three minutes to secure the victory.
