GOLDEN, Colo.
– Oredigger redshirt junior Luc Hagen highlighted the final day of the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi as the Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Track & Field teams closed out the two-day event inside Steinhauer Fieldhouse.

Hagen's headlining performance came in the mile run where he finished first amidst a field of 20 runners in a raw time of 4:14.80. With conversions for track size and altitude, Hagen's performance moved to #1 among all runners in NCAA Division II this season and counts as a provisional qualifying mark for the national meet. He was less than one second away from an automatic qualifying time. Teammates Dylan Ko and Kyle Moran joined Hagen with NCAA qualifying performances in the same race, running raw times of 4:17.84 and 4:22.21, respectively. As a point of comparison, all three runners would have finished inside the top-10 up the road at the University of Colorado in a field filled exclusively with NCAA Division I runners. Earlier this season, the trio helped Oredigger men's cross country race to the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship. All three were All-America.

The women's mile also proved exciting for the Orediggers. Brook Eberle posted a NCAA qualifying time of 5:10.20 and finished #4 in a field of 26. Eberle's time, converted down to less than five minutes, put her inside the top-20 in NCAA Division II and also ranks inside the top-10 in Mines' record book. Maddie Geesen and Cierra DellaRova joined Eberle in the mile run and finished with times of 5:14.34 and 5:24.71.

Hayden Sather and Chase McLean rounded out the Orediggers' NCAA Provisional qualifying performances in the heptathlon. Sather finished first in the event with a raw score of 4,958. Chase McLean came in second thanks to a total of 4,928 points. Sather's total moved him to #15 in DII and McLean joined the party at #17. The duo's #1 and #2 finishes came in a field of 10 competitors that included former heptathlon national champion Spencer Jahr of Colorado Mesa.

Other notable performances included Mackenzie Duck and Miranda Manfre placing #1 and #2 in the women's 800 meters. Both performances put the Orediggers inside Mines' all-time top 10. Allee Beach finished #3 in the 400-meter dash and moved herself to #7 in the program record book. Another one-two performance came in the 3,000-meter run as Brin Strouse and Heather Keniry swept the top of the podium. Strouse's time puts her #7 on the Orediggers' all-time list. John Sass and Megan Maccagnan rounded out the gold medals as they took first place in their respective 200-meter races. Back in the field events, Hannah Martin and Lexye Wood produced personal-record, top-10 performances in the high jump. All times and marks can be found in the results linked above.

Mines track & field returns to action next weekend, Feb. 7-8 at the UCCS Invite down in Colorado Springs. Coverage information will be available next week at www.minesathletics.com.
