Glen Sparks Dominating Win Over BHSU

GOLDEN, Colo. - Michael Glen scored his 1,000th career point and spurred Colorado School of Mines to a dominating 79-43 win over first-place Black Hills State.

Glen scored a game-high 22 points and led a spectacular defensive effort with six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals as the Orediggers (19-8, 15-5 RMAC) held the RMAC's top shooting offense to just 25.5 percent for the game.

Mines' win shook up the RMAC standings; Regis upset co-leader Dixie State, putting DSU and BHSU one game ahead of Mines with two left to play. The Orediggers clinched a top-four RMAC Tournament seed with the win combined with South Dakota Mines' loss at UCCS.

Glen's 16-point first half sparked the win, but 12 different Orediggers scored including 11 from Ben Boone (who added a career-high five assists) and 10 each from Titus Reed and Brendan Sullivan.

Mines led wire-to-wire, starting the game on a 12-0 run and never looking back. Glen scored the Orediggers' first seven points, and later had seven of nine points in a 9-0 run that blew the game open at 25-11. Mines ended the first half on a 13-5 run to lead 40-23 at the break.

The Orediggers never let off the gas, starting the second half on a 15-4 tear, and Glen's final basket, a three-pointer with 12:28 remaining, doubled up BHSU at 60-30. That all but ended it as Mines won going away with their largest lead, 38 points, happening in the final minute.

NOTABLES
- The Orediggers extended their win streak to five games.
- Mines held BHSU to by far their worst shooting night of the year as the Yellow Jackets were just 12-of-47 overall and 2-of-15 for three. Leading scorer Joel Scott (17.2 ppg) was limited to just six; the entire BHSU starting lineup scored just 26 points.
- Mason Baker returned after missing four games due to injury and scored six points with six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
- Glen joins Baker among active Orediggers with 1,000+ points. Glen was 9-of-13 overall and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc; he scored his 1,000th on a layup with 4:30 left in the first half.
- Mines shot 49.1 percent for the game.
- The Orediggers bossed the paint with a 45-25 rebounding advantage and 36-18 points in the paint lead.
