GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Track & Field teams took down multiple records and added additional NCAA marks to their resumes on Friday evening at the Mines Friday Night Invite inside Steinhauer Fieldhouse.
Hannah Miller broke her own program record in the pole vault and punched her ticket to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships by clearing 4.01 meters (13-1.75) on just her second attempt. The height reached the NCAA Automatic qualifying mark and moved Miller to #9 in all of NCAA Division II. It also toppled her previous program record of 3.95 meters set just a week ago at the Texas Tech Shootout in Lubbock. Teammate
Jake Pinkston complimented Miller with his own NCAA qualifying performance on the men's side. Pinkston soared over 5.06 meters (16-7.25) which upped his season best and NCAA provisional standing to #8 in the nation.

In the men's shot put,
Arvid Veidmark IV had his own record-setting performance in the men's shot put. The sophomore heaved it 17.12 meters (56-2.0) to become Mines' all-time shot put king by 15 centimeters (3.75 inches). He also improved his previous provisional mark and moved up to #19 in the nation.
Kathleen Tomon impressed in the women's shot put by producing a mark of 13.98 meters (45-10.5). She upped her NCAA mark to #32 in the nation and improved her all-time program ranking to #2 in the event.

On the track, the Oredigger women produced a NCAA performance in the distance-medley relay. Running solo for most of the race, the quartet of
Brook Eberle,
Miranda Manfre,
Mackenzie Duck and
Zoe Baker posted a raw time of 12:10.68. Not only does it rank #6 in Mines' record book, it also puts them #13 in the nation in provisional qualifying fashion. Among the men's runners,
Derek Steele popped off a 5,000-meter run of 14:28.87 (converted) which puts him #28 in the nation and provisionally qualified for nationals. Additionally,
Kevin Thompson nearly hit NCAA provisional gold with a time of 1:56.71, just hundredths of a second away from the necessary time with conversions.

Other highlights included
Grant Redmond in the high jump,
Kennede Brown in the 60-meter hurdles and the duo of
Aryelle Wright and
Randi Higashi in the 400 meters. Redmond cleared 2.02 meters (6-7.5) to put himself #8 in program history as a true freshman. Brown ran nine seconds flat in the hurdles, solidifying her position at #2 in the Oredigger record book. Wright and Higashi both raced to the finish in less than a minute in the 400 meters in times that put them inside the program's top-10.
