REGULAR SEASON FINALE
This Friday, the Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team plays its 2019-20 regular season finale at UCCS in Colorado Springs. Mines looks to break out of its two-game slump while UCCS attempts to end its season on a four-game run. The Orediggers already own a berth in the RMAC Tournament and the Mountain Lions have been eliminated. The biggest pieces on the line for either team are pride and seeding. A win for Mines combined with a loss for Westminster helps the Orediggers match their preseason projection of finishing #3 in the league.

LAST WEEKEND
Mines closed its 2019-20 regular season home slate last weekend by hosting Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines. The result was a pair of tough losses as the Orediggers fell to BHSU by a score of 55-48 and SDSMT, 77-75, on a last-second shot. Despite the losses, Denali Pinto racked up 24 points per game including 31 against South Dakota Mines. The Orediggers also celebrated Senior Day and honored Heidi Hammond at halftime of the men's game on Saturday night. Mines' lone senior finished the weekend with 21 points thanks to a 7-of-13 mark from three-point range. Additionally, Courtney Stanton nearly averaged a double-double for the weekend after grabbing nine rebounds in both contests and putting up a total of 26 points.

SCOUTING UCCS
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs enters the weekend mathematically eliminated from the 2019-20 postseason. In spite of that, UCCS has run off three straight wins including victories over New Mexico Highlands, South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State. However, skids of nine games and four games doomed the Mountain Lions early in the season. Individually, Abby Feickert leads the offense thanks to 10.7 points per game. She's the only player averaging double-digit scoring numbers. Madi Gaibler boasts 5.3 rebounds per game. Kaity Hovasse tops the squad with 2.2 assists per game. As a team, UCCS averages 61.4 points per contest and surrenders an average of 65 points per game to the opposition.

JUST ONE DOLLAR
Throughout the year and multiple sports, numerous facts have been presented regarding UCCS's Mountain Lions nickname. While there may be a return to the standard nickname dissection, there is a wealth of interesting tidbits surrounding the institution's campus. The campus was originally Cragmor Sanatorium, essentially a rehab facility/hospital, opened in 1905 and nicknamed "Sun Palace". The health spa's white-collar clientele led to its demise during The Great Depression. Despite efforts to revive the Sanatorium, it was eventually sold to the State of Colorado for one dollar in 1964 and became property of the University of Colorado. Thus, UCCS was born – for the price of a candy bar.

GALLOGLY EVENTS CENTER
Opened on Jan. 8, 2010, the Gallogly Events Center serves as the home for Mountain Lion basketball and volleyball. The arena seats 1,250 and features layout somewhat similar to Lockridge Arena with courtside seating rising to a concourse level. The facility was named after Tommy Gallogly who earned his degree from UCCS in 1970 and another degree in 1973. It is the first building on campus to be named after a UCCS alum.

SERIES HISTORY
The Orediggers are 20-21 in the all-time series against UCCS. Mines pulled within one game of evening the all-time mark thanks to a 64-61 win earlier this season inside Lockridge Arena. In that victory, Denali Pinto led all players with 22 points. Courtney Stanton, Sammy Van Sickle and Liz Holter all scored in double digits as well. Furthermore, Van Sickle made hers a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double. Since the series began in 1990, the Orediggers have won by as many as 41 points and lost by as many as 57. A win on Friday would give Mines a three-game winning streak against the Mountain Lions.

RMAC RUNDOWN
Colorado Mesa has clinched the RMAC's regular season title and the #1 seed in the conference Tournament. Western Colorado, Westminster and Mines are all locked into top-four seeds as well which means those four teams will host quarterfinal games on Tuesday night. As previously mentioned, Mines could go as high as the #3 seed. That would require a win over UCCS and for Dixie State to take down Westminster. Otherwise, the Orediggers hold strong at #4. Either way, Mines will likely face one of the Dakota schools as BHSU and SDSMT sit tied for fifth. Dixie State is locked into a RMAC Tournament berth but could range anywhere from #6 to #8. In a battle for the final sport are Fort Lewis and MSU Denver. If all the "favorites" win on Friday, the final standings will have Mesa #1, Western Colorado #2, Westminster #3, Mines #4, Black Hills State #5, SDSMT #6, Fort Lewis #7 and Dixie State #8.
