COLORADO SPRINGS – Oredigger redshirt senior
Connor McLean automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second time this season thanks to his performance in the pole vault on Saturday afternoon as the Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Track & Field teams completed their appearances at the Mountain Lion Open hosted by UCCS.

Connor McLean cleared 5.23 meters (17-1.75) to win the pole vault and punch his second ticket to the national meet. His clearance came in one centimeter over the automatic qualifying height and was just three centimeters shy of breaking his own program record.
Jake Pinkston finished second in the event just a shade under 5.00 meters
Zach Clark made it a sweep by finishing third while
Brandon Hinkle took sixth and
Hayden Sather came in 12th. On the women's side,
Hannah Miller won the pole vault thanks to a height of 3.75 meters, marking a NCAA provisional performance just a shade under her season best.

Kathleen Tomon provided another huge result for the Orediggers in the women's shot put. Her heave of 13.94 meters (45-9.0) made her the top DII competitor in the event and improved her NCAA provisional mark by almost three inches. Tomon's performance also improved her personal record which ranks #2 in program history. In the men's shot put,
Arvid Veidmark IV put up a provisional mark with his toss of 16.59 meters (54-5.25).

On the track, Mines' women put up their best time of the season in the 4x400-meter relay.
Allee Beach,
Layla Moriarty,
Aryelle Wright and
Miranda Manfre ran 4:00.77 to win the event and put themselves #2 in the Oredigger record book. Manfre not only ran in the relay, but posted a personal record in the open 400 meters. Her time of 59.27 put her second in a field of 38 and ranks #4 all-time at Mines. It capped multiple events featuring top-3 finishes for the Orediggers.
