LOOKING BACK
Last week, Mines went from three straight wins to five with victories of 4-1 and 5-1 against Colorado Christian and MSU Denver. The Orediggers dispatched the Cougars on Thursday evening as four different individuals scored and four others notched an assist. It marked Mines' 13th straight win over the Cougars and expanded the scoring margin to 56-1 during the run. Friday saw another offensive outburst from the home team in the Orediggers' 5-1 boomschlopping of the Roadrunners. Starting center back Greyson Adams led the charge with a hat trick. Azad Iliozer and Lucas King added tallies as well. It was the first Oredigger hat trick since John Haist dropped three on CCU in 2018.

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA MINES
The engineering school to the north comes to Golden on a nine-match skid. Winless in RMAC play, South Dakota Mines' only positive decisions were a 2-1 win and 2-2 draw against St. Cloud State to start the season. However, five of the Hardrockers' nine losses are by one goal including their last match which was a 1-0 decision against UCCS in Rapid City. On the other side, then #19 CSU Pueblo toppled SDM by a 5-0 score and Regis earned a 7-1 win. George Martinez is the one name to know for South Dakota Mines. He leads his team with six goals and two assists for 14 points on 33 shots. No other player on the team has more than one goal this season. Tyler Ring is the main man in goal with 60 saves and 29 goals against for a 2.76 GAA while facing 197 shots so far this fall. As a team, SDM ranks #19 in DII in saves per game.

SCOUTING REGIS
After starting the season 3-0 including a non-conference win over the Orediggers, the Rangers have proceeded to ride a bit of a rollercoaster. Then #11 and now #7 Seattle Pacific snapped Regis' win streak on a 2-0 win right before Mines toppled the Falcons in overtime. The Rangers also drew, 1-1, with MSU Denver and dropped a 1-0, non-conference loss at CSU Pueblo. Most recently, RU bounced back with a 3-0, RMAC win at home against the ThunderWolves. That helped offset a 3-2 loss at UCCS last Thursday. The Rangers play at Colorado Christian on Friday before heading to Golden on Sunday. While Regis can score from anywhere, Kristian Hooker and Vilhjamur Kaldal serve as the main players to watch. Hooker touts seven goals and two assists with Kaldal boasting six goals and two assists. Jean Carre is another familiar Ranger name. He has three goals and two assists to his name so far this fall. Three different goalkeepers have appeared in net for Regis. Tim Dolan was the early starter, but Cooper Erickson has taken over and now has 20 saves on 86 shots compared to nine goals for a 1.31 GAA. Erickson's record is 5-2-0 with the Rangers' only two shutouts.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday marks the eighth-ever meeting between the Orediggers and South Dakota Mines. Sunday will be the 56th meeting with Regis during Mines' NCAA tenure and the second showdown this season. The Orediggers are 7-0-0 against SDM and 27-22-6 versus the Rangers. Mines began its series with the Hardrockers in 2015 with a 4-1 win. Since that time, the Orediggers have outscored South Dakota Mines 24-3 including four shutouts. The Hardrockers haven't scored against Mines since Sept. 20, 2019. The last "Meeting of the Mines" was a 4-0 win for the Orediggers in Rapid City on Nov. 1, 2019. Mines and Regis met earlier this season in a non-conference tilt at Regis which the Rangers won, 2-1. It marked RU's first victory over the Orediggers since 2014. That being said Mines hasn't defeated Regis since Oct. 27, 2018.

RMAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Greyson Adam's hat trick against MSU Denver, in part, earned him RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Adams earned the second such honor of his career and first of the season after starting on the defensive line in a 4-1 win over Colorado Christian on Wednesday and a 5-1 win against MSU Denver on Friday. His presence on the back line helped limit both opponents to a total of six shots on goal. The Alaskan's true highlight was three goals against the Roadrunners including two headers off of crosses and a converted penalty kick. It marked the first hat trick for an Oredigger since John Haist put three past Colorado Christian on Sept. 30, 2018. It's also just the fourth hat trick in the RMAC this season. Adams' weekly award is the first of the season for any player on the nationally-ranked, first-place Orediggers.

BACK IN THE RANKINGS
The Colorado School of Mines Men's Soccer team returned to the national poll on Tuesday, claiming the 25th spot in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25. It marks Mines' first national ranking since week one of the regular season when the Orediggers climbed to #4 in the nation. Through 12 matches, Mines boasts two victories over other nationally-ranked opponents including Seattle Pacific which is now #7 with a 9-1-0 record. Colorado Mesa is the only other RMAC team inside the top-25 at #12. A plethora of teams from NCAA Super-Region 4 joined the Falcons, Mavericks and Orediggers on the list including Midwestern State (#8), Cal State L.A. (#13), West Texas A&M (#18), Cal State Dominguez Hills (#20) and Azusa Pacific (#23).

FUN FACT OF THE WEEK
The Orediggers have suffered three losses this fall. Those defeats have come in non-conference at the hands of Regis, Western Washington and CSU Pueblo. The combined record of those three teams this fall is 20-12-1. Ten teams ranked ahead of Mines in the United Soccer Coaches' poll have multiple losses. Four of those teams have lost to competition with a combined record at .500 or less. The other six teams have lost to competition touting a combined record over .500. However, only two multi-loss teams in the top-25 have lost to better competition than the Orediggers. Those programs are #16 Tampa who have lost to teams boasting a combined .764 winning percentage and #19 Chowan with a combined .750 winning percentage dealing their defeats. Meanwhile, Colorado Mesa at #12 has two losses to programs with a combined record of 10-10-2. It's not much and a little confusing, but it seemed a little fun.
