AFCA Top 25 Poll
GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines jumped up two spots to reach their highest national ranking in program history at #3 in this week's AFCA Coaches' Poll.
There was a major shake-up in the poll as #1 West Florida, #2 Northwest Missouri State, #6 Slippery Rock, #7 Grand Valley State, #8 Wingate, and #9 Henderson State all lost in Week 7. Ferris State jumped up two spots to be the new #1 with Valdosta State at #2, with both splitting first-place votes. West Georgia is #4 and Cal (Pa.) is #5 behind Mines, with West Florida settling at #6.
The Orediggers' #5 ranking, which it had occupied the last four weeks as well as one week in 2004, was the program's previous best. Mines is now 7-0 after defeating South Dakota Mines 44-24; the Orediggers visit Colorado Mesa this week, with the Mavericks receiving votes in this week's poll. Western Colorado stayed at #24 in this week's poll.
