OREDIGGERS TAKE FINAL ROAD TRIP OF REGULAR SEASON
Coming off two key wins that vaulted them back into the RMAC title picture, #18 Colorado School of Mines visits Fort Lewis and Western Colorado in their final weekend road swing of the regular season. The Orediggers will be looking to bring full points home with them as they compete for postseason positioning.
LIVE COVERAGE
This weekend's matches, and every match this season, will be streamed live and for free on the
RMAC Network.
LAST WEEK REWIND
Mines went 2-0 last weekend with wins over Colorado Christian and #7 UCCS. In a 1-0 win over CCU,
Emi Higgins scored early and the Orediggers dominated possession in the win; against UCCS, Higgins and
Landry Corbett scored a minute apart late in the second half to get a 2-0 lead, and Mines held on despite a late Mountain Lion goal.
IN THE POLLS
Off their win over UCCS, Mines returned to the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 at #18 this week. It is the 101st time in program history that Mines has been ranked in the poll.
AROUND THE RMAC
With four matches left, Mines tops the RMAC table with 19 points, but Colorado Mesa lurks a point behind with a match in hand. Regis, who Mines finishes the regular season with, also has 18 points with eight matches played, and CSU Pueblo is at 16 points with a match in hand on the Orediggers. An RMAC Tournament spot is all but assured for Mines, but the Orediggers need to win out and have Colorado Mesa drop one of their final five matches to secure the regular-season title.
OREDIGGERS EARN RMAC HONORS
Emi Higgins and
Sierra Roth were named RMAC Players of the Week on Tuesday after keying both of Mines' wins over the weekend. Higgins scored in both matches, including the gamewinner over CCU, while Roth made three saves against CCU and six against UCCS to pick up the wins.
LEADING THE WAY
Mines has 11 different goal scorers this season led by a pair of true freshmen,
Reese McDermott (4 goals) and
Lauren Clingman (3 goals), with
Emi Higgins adding three goals in the last three matches.
Landry Corbett,
Emma Peterson,
Eliot Edwards, and
Hannah Rowan have scored twice, while Corbett and Peterson co-lead the team with three assists each.
SHUT IT DOWN
Mines enters the weekend with the RMAC's best defense at 0.57 goals per game allowed, led by the goalkeeper
Sierra Roth, who tops the league in virtually every metric including GAA (0.55), save percentage (.887), and shutouts (6). The Mines backline of
Ava Harman,
Jordan Barnhart,
Katie Koehler, and
Karolina Sidebaeck is limiting opponents to 12 shots and 5.3 shots on goal per game.
SCOUTING FORT LEWIS
The Skyhawks are 3-6-2 overall and 1-4-2 in RMAC play and are currently four points out of the eighth and final RMAC Tournament spot. FLC is 0-2-2 over their last four matches including a 1-0 loss to Colorado Mesa and scoreless draw with Westminster last weekend. Madyson Barela is their leading scorer with four goals and Katie Smith has three. Katherine Dunbabin has played the bulk of their goalkeeping minutes and has a 1.80 GAA and .689 save percentage, but Katlyn Rosebaum started their last two matches and has a 0.59 GAA. Mines is 16-7-2 all-time against the Skyhawks and is unbeaten in their last seven meetings, including a 2-1 win in Durango in April that included goals by
Emma Peterson and
AK Ford to overcome a 1-0 deficit.
SCOUTING WESTERN COLORADO
The Mountaineers are 4-7-1 overall and 1-5-1 in RMAC play, looking for their first win since Oct. 3 when they beat Adams State. Caileen Sienknecht is their scoring leader with three goals and Laura Pelino has two goals and two assists. Kaeyla Noble has played all but 16 minutes in goal and has a 2.14 GAA and .778 save percentage. Mines is 9-1 all-time against Western Colorado including six straight victories; they last met on April 3 when the Orediggers won 5-0 in Gunnison on a brace by
Eliot Edwards and goals by
AK Ford,
Cloey Seltzer, and
Chaney Brugman.
