BACK AT HOME
This week, the Colorado School of Mines Men's Soccer game will being its home conference schedule by welcoming Colorado Christian and MSU Denver to Stermole Stadium. Mines earned a 2-0-0 start to conference play on the road last weekend and will look to stay hot with an overall win streak of three on the line. The Orediggers are one of three teams in the RMAC without a loss in the early going, but the Cougars and Roadrunners will not be easy opponents even though both suffered losses on opening weekend.

REVIEWING LAST WEEKEND
Last weekend, the Orediggers opened their RMAC slate at Adams State on Friday and in Durango on Sunday against Fort Lewis. Mines won both matches, but in very different fashion. Friday's affair was a 3-0 decision in favor of the visitors. The Orediggers scored within the first three minutes of the game and did not look back. Lucas King accounted for three points on one goal and one assist. Sunday's clash with FLC was a nail-biter that Mines pulled out thanks to Gabe Rodriguez's goal in the 68th minute. Kenneth Symmes stepped up with four saves to clinch the 1-0 shutout.

SCOUTING COLORADO CHRISTIAN
The Cougars from Lakewood are off to a historic start to the fall campaign with a 7-1-0 record overall and a 1-1-0 mark in RMAC action. Colorado Christian's seven wins are its most in a season since earning nine victories in 1999. Thus far, Fort Lewis is the only team to topple CCU after a 3-0 decision in Durango last Friday. More notable wins for the Cougars include a 2-1, overtime victory at Southwest Baptist and a 2-1 win in regulation at William Jewell. Also notable is that CCU played Adams State twice in non-conference action and South Dakota Mines once. Individually, Liam Lakey leads the Cougars with 10 points on five goals. Gabe Roloff is another name to watch, touting three goals and two assists for eight points. Defensively, Max Collingwood is back in net as the starting goalkeeper. The conference coaches voted Collingwood RMAC co-Defensive Player of the Year in the spring thanks to a 1.47 GAA (16 goals against) and a 5-5-0 record with three shutouts. In seven starts this season, Collingwood has surrendered six goals and made 14 saves with one shutout.  As a team, CCU owns the #9 winning percentage in the nation. Colorado Christian's men have only suffered one shutout in their last 11 games.

SCOUTING MSU DENVER
After facing Mines in non-conference action with a 3-3-1 record, MSU Denver has continued its middling trend with one win and one loss. The defeat came at the hands of Regis and the win was a 2-1 decision against South Dakota Mines in Denver. MSU Denver still maintains a 24-man roster that includes 13 freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Aidan Bates has since taken over the team lead in scoring with 10 points on five goals thanks to 22 shots. Sophomore Fellow sophomore Sam Funnell is right behind with two goals and three assists. Ross Miller remains the main man in goal, touting all 10 starts for MSU Denver. He ranks #5 in the nation in goalie minutes played. Miller is also #12 in total saves and #50 in saves per game.

SERIES HISTORY
In the NCAA-era for Mines men's soccer, the Orediggers are 41-10-2 against Colorado Christian while sitting 34-20-6 versus MSU Denver. Mines boasts a 12-match winning streak over the Cougars which includes 12 shutouts and a combined scoring margin of 52-0. The Orediggers haven't lost to CCU since Sept. 27, 2013, when the Cougars toppled then #9 Mines in Golden by a 3-2 margin. Mines hasn't surrendered a goal to CCU since that loss. The Orediggers and Cougars last meeting was a 6-0 decision for Mines in Golden. As stated above, the Orediggers and Roadrunners already met once this fall in a non-conference tilt. Mines won the match at Assembly Athletic Complex in Denver, 4-0, thanks to scoring from two freshmen and one sophomore. The Orediggers' last loss to MSU Denver was on Oct. 1, 2017 at Stermole Stadium

EVERYONE GETS A GOAL
So far this fall, 23 different Orediggers have stepped on the pitch during a regular-season match. Eleven of those 23 have found the back of the net for a goal. Included in the 11 are three true freshmen and one sophomore. The remaining seven are seniors or graduate students. True freshman Gabe Rodriguez and senior striker Tristan Semelsberger both lead the team with four goals apiece.

FUN FACT OF THE WEEK
Mines enters the week riding a 22-match win streak at home in conference play. In fact, since 2017 when Greg Mulholland took over as head coach, the Orediggers boast a combined RMAC record of 43-2-5. That's at home or on the road. The last time Mines lost a RMAC contest at Stermole Stadium was on Oct. 1, 2017, against MSU Denver in a 1-0 decision. Since that loss just over four years ago, the Orediggers have only lost one RMAC match and that was on the road, in overtime, at Fort Lewis in 2019. Not too shabby for a bunch of nerds. It should be noted that CSU Pueblo broke Mines' home winning streak against conference opponents (not necessarily RMAC contests) earlier this season with the Orediggers losing 2-1 in Golden.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Orediggers continue a four-game home stand on Friday, Oct. 15, against South Dakota Mines and Sunday, Oct. 17, against Regis. Tickets can be purchased online at www.minesathletics.com/tickets or at the gate on the day of the match. Live stats and video on the RMAC Network will also be offered at www.minesathletics.com.
