COLORADO SPRINGS - Colorado School of Mines linebacker
Ben Fuchs has been named the RMAC's Summit Award winner in football for the 2021 season.
The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA), participating at the finals sites for each of the RMAC championships, or in the case of football, from among any teams tied for the regular-season championship. Ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
On the field, Fuchs appeared on special teams and at linebacker for the Orediggers recording 17 total tackles, half a sack, and 2.0 tackles for loss this season. He tied his career high with four tackles at both Fort Lewis and Valdosta State. In the classroom, Fuchs is academically a senior majoring in chemical engineering with a 4.0 GPA.
Mines went 12-2 this season and were RMAC co-champions at 8-1, and ultimately advanced to the NCAA Division II semifinals for the first time in program history.
