ALAMOSA, Colo. - Kobi Betts and
Brendan Sullivan - who scored his 1,000th career point - led #7 Colorado School of Mines as they cruised to a 68-48 road win at Adams State.
After spotting the Grizzlies the first five points of the game, the Orediggers (14-1, 13-1 RMAC) went on a 14-1 run and never looked back, holding the RMAC's highest scoring offense to only 48 points in the win.
Betts poured in 22 points keyed by a perfect 4-for-4 night beyond the arc while Sullivan had 17. Coming into the weekend, Sullivan needed 14 points to hit 1,000 career points, and he reached the milestone on a three-pointer 3:10 into the second half.
Titus Reed was a spark off the bench for eight points and
Michael Glen had eight points and as many rebounds.Â
Destan Williams led ASU (8-8, 8-8 RMAC) with 16 points including a 4-of-5 outside shooting night. Kaelin Crane pitched in 11.
After an unsettled opening few minutes, Mines caught fire with a 14-1 run started by a a pair of
Austin Means buckets around Betts' first three-pointer, and they would not trail after that point. The lead hit double digits, 20-10, on Sullivan's left-handed runner at the 10:39 mark, and three-pointers by Sullivan and Betts late in the half helped Mines lead 35-23 at the break.
It was more of the same in the second half as the Grizzlies went cold from the outside (1-for-9) and Mines continued to pull away, leading by as much as 24 late in the game. The Orediggers shot .417 for the game but held ASU to .375.
