GAME 1 - Colorado Mesa 7, Colorado School of Mines 3
Colorado Mesa hit four home runs to win Sunday's opener, 7-3, over the Orediggers.
Kylie Redding led Mines at the plate going 2-for-3 with one run batted in and a double. Brooke Doumer, Ellie Smith, Nicole Christensen, and Aislyn Sharp homered for Colorado Mesa.
Smith's grand slam in the first got CMU going before Christensen homered two batters later to lead 5-0. Mines wouldn't get on the board until the fourth when Redding drove in
Clara Larson with a single, and
Kayleigh Krueger scored on an error to make it 5-3. The Mavericks put the game away with two more longballs, though, as Sharp went long in the fourth and Doumer in the fifth, both solo shots, to lead 7-3.
Shea Mauser (2-0) earned the win with two strikeouts and one earned run over seven. Mines combined three pitchers as Krueger (1-2) was charged with the loss in an inning, with
Sadriena Rodriguez throwing three innings of relief and
Lauren Decker pitching two scoreless, hitless innings to finish.
GAME 2 - Colorado Mesa 10, Mines 2 (6 inn.)
Colorado Mesa continued to pile up the powering hitting as it won the series finale 10-2 in five innings over Colorado School of Mines.
The Mavericks had three-RBI games from Lauren Wedman and Aislyn Sharp as they scored nine of their 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win.
Senior
Megan Dickson highlighted the game for Mines with her solo home run in the fifth, the 100th hit of her career.
Nicole Christensen got CMU on the board in the second with an RBI triple to drive in Sarah Staudle, but starter
Sydney Marchando (1-3) battled after that to keep it a 1-0 game into the fifth. Dickson smashed a two-out home run to right in the bottom of that inning to tie it 1-1, but CMU answered with Sharp's two-run double and a bases-clearing Wedman single to make it 6-1.
Clara Larson's sacrifice fly in the sixth cut the deficit to 6-2, but Mesa ended the game in the bottom of the sixth as Staudle homered for two runs, Sharp drove in another with a double, and Drew Sims ended the game on a fielder's choice to plate Sharp.
Marchando struck out three in 5.0 innings of work.
Kylie Redding entered in the sixth and faced four batters. Paige Adair (4-0) remained unbeaten with a three-hitter over six innings.
