Mines Dominates In 4-0 Win Over BHSU

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines remained unbeaten as it fired four goals past Black Hills State in a 4-0 non-conference victory Sunday.

The Orediggers (2-0-1) had four different goalscorers as AK Ford tallied in the first half, and Cloey Seltzer, Chaney Brugman, and Michelle Easley found the net in a six-minute span late in the second half. Mines outshot the Yellow Jackets (0-4-0) 25-4.

Mines was frustrated early on, outshooting BHSU 17-2 in the first half but having to wait until just after the half-hour mark to get on the board when Ford beat a defender and shot high from the right side of the box for the 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.

It was a similar situation for most of the second half until Seltzer's goal in the 77th minute opened the floodgates. The freshman took a pass from Brugman at midfield and fired a shot from the top of the box into the lower right corner to lead 2-0, and less than two minutes later, it was Brugman who drilled a one-touch backpass from Lauren Sherburne to make it 3-0. Easley capped the game off with her first career goal in the 84th minute, collecting a deflected cross off the goalkeeper and finishing on an empty net.

Sierra Roth and Dani vonLembke combined for their second consecutive shutout as Roth made one save. Despite the score, Morgan Wood was outstanding for BHSU with 11 stops.
