FORT COLLINS, Colo. –
The Colorado School of Mines Men's and Women's Track & Field teams produced low times and high marks on Saturday at the Doug Max Invitational hosted by Colorado State at Jack Christiansen Track.

Connor McLean and Hannah Miller both automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships while shattering program records. McLean cleared 5.30 meters (17-4.5) in the men's pole vault which ties him for #1 in the nation this season and pushes him past Jake Pinkston in the program record book. Miller cleared 4.10 meters (13-5.25) in the women's pole vault which ups her own program record for a third straight week and puts her in a tie for second in the nation this season.

Arvid Veidmark IV also had a record-setting day and improved his national standing as well. He threw the shot put 17.19 meters (58-9.25) to break his own program record by another 15 centimeters and now ranks 13th in the nation this season pending other results. Veidmark IV also twirled the discus 48.19 meters (158-1.0), finishing third in a field full of NCAA Division I competition. Additionally, Grant Redmond joined his teammate on the NCAA provisional list by clearing 2.08 meters (6-9.75) in the high jump. That ranks fourth all-time at Mines and ninth in the nation this season.

Rounding out the top performances were Aryelle Wright and Krista Carlo. Wright ran the 400-meter dash in 56.21 seconds which moved her up to second in the program record book. She already holds the record twice over in the 800-meter run. Wright also participated in the 4x400-meter relay. Carlo tossed the hammer 52.71 meters and the discus 39.15 meters.

Next weekend, Mines will divide and conquer with squads headed to Colorado Mesa and to the CU Invite in Boulder, Colo. Attendance policies, coverage information and a full preview will be available next week at www.minesathletics.com.
