#10 Florida Tech's PK Downs #25 Mines, 1-0

MELBOURNE, Fla. - A second-half penalty kick by #10 Florida Tech was the game's only goal as #25 Colorado School of Mines saw its 24-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Saturday.

The Panthers (3-0-1) outshot the Orediggers (3-1-2) 22-10 in the match, with Sierra Roth making four saves in goal.

Mines survived a dangerous early period by the Panthers, who missed five shots wide in the opening six minutes before Hannah Rowan put a shot on goal in the seventh minute. Florida Tech continued to attack with 13 first-half shots, but put only one on net in the period as Roth was only tested once.

The second half had a fast-paced opening, and Florida Tech drew a penalty kick on a run into the box in the 49th minute. Alexis Sheely converted to the right post for the 1-0 lead, and the Panthers continued to pressure as Roth was forced to make a fantastic tip save off the post in the 57th minute.

Colleen Tyrrell put a shot over the crossbar in the 58th, but Mines' best chance of the game was in the 75th minute when a free kick from midfield was sent into the box for AK Ford to blast off the post. Jordan Barnhart put in the rebound, but the goal was disallowed for offsides. Barnhart hit the crossbar in the 88th minute off a corner kick as Mines pressed late but came away without a goal.
