#9 Mines, Jin Dismantle Black Hills State

GOLDEN, Colo. – Outside hitter Lindsey Jin put together a record-breaking performance on Saturday night as the #9 Colorado School of Mines Volleyball team dismantled Black Hills State in straight sets at Lockridge Arena.

Jin knocked down 13 kills on 15 attempts with zero errors to hit .867 in the match. That number ranks #1 on Mines' single-match hitting percentage list (15-19 attempts). For good measure, Jin also added one service ace, one block and one dig. Taylor Hicken joined the double-digit kills club as well with 10 while hitting .500 on the attack along with three service aces. Other notables included Julia Eiken's five blocks and Elle Duis' 16 digs. Drew Stokes finished with 34 assists.

The Orediggers (11-1, 4-0 RMAC) outperformed Black Hills State (4-8, 1-3 RMAC) in every statistical category. Mines' biggest highlight was a team attack percentage of .448 while the defense limited the Yellow Jackets to just 23 kills on 86 attempts with 21 errors for a .023 hitting percentage. The victory gives the Orediggers an eight-match win streak and keeps them tied for #1 in the RMAC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Whether it was the heat of the day in Golden or the emotional high carrying over from Friday's win, Mines did not miss a step on Saturday evening. From Eiken's first kill to the final block from her and Stuewe, the Orediggers dominated Black Hills State from start to finish. The match officially took less than 60 minutes from first serve to the final point with identical set scores of 25-13 all the way through.

Jin registered seven of her 13 kills in the opening frame that saw the home team convert at a .484 clip. While the production dipped slightly for the next two games, the second set took only 17 minutes to complete thanks to a block Eiken and Amanda Donais for the final point. In the final set, Mines charged to an 8-2 advantage thanks to a combined four kills from Donais and Hicken, and the Orediggers did not look back.
