MINES HAS BUSY WEEK WITH THREE RMAC GAMES
On a roll with three straight wins, Colorado School of Mines (8-7, 6-5 RMAC) will look to keep its momentum going with three games this week, hosting New Mexico Highlands Wednesday night before heading south to visit CSU Pueblo and Adams State this weekend. The NMHU game is a rescheduled date from their postponed Jan. 8 game; after that, the Orediggers' schedule is back to normal with no postponements still waiting to be made up. All three games will stream live on the RMAC Network.

LAST TIME OUT
Mines is coming off a 2-0 weekend that included a 68-58 win over Colorado Mesa on Friday and an 88-48 rout of Westminster Saturday. Mines shot .500 in the CMU game and .531 in the Westminster contest, and defensively held the two to a combined .356 overall from the floor and .282 for three.Â
ORSER SETS NEW STANDARD
Saturday's win over Westminster marked the 387th of
Pryor Orser's career at Mines, which set the program's all-time record for victories. In his 21st season, Orser is 387-208 to surpass
Jim Darden, who coaches Mines from 1954 to 1992 with 386 wins. Orser is also 274-143 in RMAC play which marks the second-most wins in conference history. Under Orser, Mines has won five RMAC regular-season championships and two RMAC Tournament titles, and qualified for 11 NCAA Tournaments including two Elite Eight trips.Â
GETTING STOPS
Mines enters this week with the RMAC's best defense by a solid margin, allowing just 64.3 points per game ahead of Colorado Mesa's 67.3 pace. Mines has held its opponent to 60 or fewer points in each of the last three games and six times overall this season.Â
SULLIVAN POWERS WIN STREAK
It's no surprise that when Mines is winning,
Brendan Sullivan's name is usually at the top of the stats sheet. Sullivan has had a fantastic last four games, shooting an exceptional .700 overall (28-of-40) and averaging 17.0 points per game in that span. He has shot .667 or better in each of the last four games including 10-of-15 at South Dakota Mines, 6-of-7 against Colorado Mesa, and 4-of-6 against Westminster.
DOUBLING UP
Freshman
Adam Krasovec is coming off his second double-double of the season as the Hungarian big man put together a career-high 17 points and 10 rebounds in only 18 minutes against Westminster. This season Krasovec is averaging 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting .551/.500/.769 splits. Â
MINES VS. NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS
The Cowboys have struggled in 2021-22 at 6-9 overall but 1-8 in RMAC play, having lost nine of their last 10 after a 5-1 start to the season. They are deep offensively, with five players scoring 10+ points per game led by Desmond Carpenter (15.0 ppg) and Marcus Brown (14.9 ppg), but defensively they allow 79 points per game with opponents shooting .454. Five of their eight conference losses have been by five points or less.
This will be the 79th all-time meeting in a series dating back to 1966, with Mines leading 45-33. The Orediggers have won two in a row and nine of the last 10 in the series; they have not played since 2019-20 with NMHU not competing last season due to the pandemic.Â
MINES VS. CSU PUEBLO
The Thunderwolves are 8-10 overall and 5-7 in RMAC play, coming off road losses to Fort Lewis and Western Colorado last weekend. Lian Ramiro has been one of the league's top freshman leading the team with 15.9 points and 3.4 assists per game, and Elijah Moleon is a top frontcourt player with 12.2 points and a team-leading 6.9 rebounds per game. The Thunderwolves shoot .477 overall but are just .649 at the line, which ranks last in the RMAC.
It will be the 64th all-time meeting between the two teams dating back to 1965 with CSUP holding a 36-27 lead. Mines has won five straight including a 74-60 win in Pueblo last season in which
Brendan Sullivan scored 19 and
Michael Glen had 16. Mines shot .667 in the second half of that game to run away with the win.Â
MINES VS. ADAMS STATE
Like Mines, Adams State is battling for a postseason spot as they are 9-8 overall and 5-6 in-conference, having won two in a row after a 90-89 overtime win at Fort Lewis on Saturday. Rylan O'Brien leads a balanced offensive attack with 13.9 points per game while Jordan Notch adds 13.5 and Kaelin Crane 12.0. The Grizzlies are one of the RMAC's top three-point shooting teams at .370 (second) led by O'Brien's 26 outside baskets.
The Mines-Adams State series dates back to just after World War II with 161 previous meetings, and the two have met at least once in every season since 1946. ASU leads 90-71 but Mines has won five straight and 10 of the last 11; last year they played twice with Mines winning both games handily including a 68-48 blowout in Alamosa where
Brendan Sullivan scored his 1,000th career point among 17 and
Kobi Betts led the way with 22.Â
