COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for men's soccer Tuesday afternoon, and Colorado School of Mines men's soccer goalkeeper
Brian Doherty was named Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season following a standout effort to lead the Orediggers to the RMAC regular season title over the weekend.
It is the third weekly honor for Doherty in his career who also won the award earlier this month. In Mines' two matches against Colorado Mesa and Westminster, the graduate student from Seattle, Washington recorded seventh shutout of the season and logged eight saves in 135 minutes of playing time. Friday night against the Mavericks, he recorded another eight-save outing for the second time this season as Mines collected a 3-0 victory. Sunday against the Griffins, he recorded a save against the only shot he faced in the first half before exiting the game at halftime, turning things over to fellow senior
Kenneth Symmes as the two combined for the team's ninth shutout of 2022.
Mines (12-4-2, 9-1-0) earned a first round bye in the upcoming 2022 RMAC Men's Soccer Tournament which begins on Thursday.
