COLORADO SPRINGS - A career Saturday by Colorado School of Mines quarterback
John Matocha has earned him yet another RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Matocha led the Orediggers (8-2, 8-0 RMAC) to a 54-16 win at New Mexico Highlands in Week 10 to help Mines clinch the outright conference championship with a week to go in the regular season. The quarterback threw for a career-high 391 yards and tied his career best with five touchdown throws, averaging 17 yards per completion. His touchdown passes went for 44, 8, 64, 20, and 27 yards as he found eight different receivers in the game, and he now has an active streak of seven consecutive 300+ yard games.
It is Matocha's third win of the season and ninth in his career. It is the eighth RMAC weekly honor earned by an Oredigger this season, including on six straight Mondays.
Mines wraps up the regular season at home Saturday against Fort Lewis at noon, with Senior Day ceremonies preceding the game.
