OREDIGGERS HEAD BACK TO TEXAS FOR FOUR GAMES
Colorado School of Mines heads back to Texas for a second straight weekend to face four teams in the Lubbock Christian Softball Classic. Mines will play at three different sites in and around Lubbock, facing Nebraska-Kearney at Lubbock Christian High School's field before heading up the street to face Oklahoma Baptist at LCU's Plainscapital Park on Friday. On Saturday Mines will play Northwestern Oklahoma State at Lubbock Christian High School's field before closing out the weekend against defending national champion #4 West Texas A&M at Lubbock Cooper High School.

TOURNAMENT COVERAGE
Live stats will be provided for every game of the tournament, and the Orediggers' one game at LCU's Plainscapital Park will also be live streamed on the Lone Star Digital Network (pay-per-view).

OPENING WEEKEND TAKEAWAYS
Although Mines came away from opening weekend 0-4, they still took plenty of positives away from a schedule that included three top-25 teams. Sidney Wilson led Mines at the plate hitting .385 and slugging .538 and Trystin Oshiro-Sano had a pair of doubles hitting .333. Sam Wade drove in two runs as did Wilson. Sadriena Rodriguez led Mines in the circle not allowing an earned run and striking out 10 over 8.2 innings in two appearances. Cassidy Chvatal's weekend was highlighted by four innings of no-hit relief against Texas A&M-Commerce to give Mines a chance to rally, and she held opponents to .200 for the weekend.

COUTTS ERA UNDERWAY
Mines is in its first season under new head coach Mike Coutts, a college softball veteran who arrived in Golden after six seasons as the head coach at the University of Maine. Coutts won an America East title and made an NCAA regional appearance at Maine, winning 94 games over his six seasons in Orono. Assistant coach Barb Duran remains on the staff this season as well.

IN THE POLLS
Mines was chosen fourth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Jan. 25. Mines received 81 points to tie for fourth with Regis. Colorado Mesa topped the poll followed closely by Colorado Christian, and MSU Denver is third.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines has a week off before heading into RMAC play Feb. 26-27 at CSU Pueblo.
