OREDIGGERS HIT THE ROAD FOR ALAMOSA
Colorado School of Mines starts a two-week road swing on Saturday as they visit Adams State (8-23, 3-17 RMAC) for a four-game series. The two teams will play a noon doubleheader Saturday and an 11 a.m. twinbill Sunday.

GAME COVERAGE
Every conference and home game this season will stream live and for free on the RMAC Network, which has relaunched for  the 2021-22 school year. Fans used to watching on their smart TV or other device must download the new app by searching "RMAC" in your device's app store. The new watch portal is available at minesathletics.com/tv or rmacnetwork.com

THE FORECAST
Saturday should be a nice day for softball in Alamosa with sunshine and highs in the mid-60s with increasing winds through the day. Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a high around 60 and calmer winds, with a slight chance of a rain shower toward the end of the second game.

LAST TIME OUT
Mines took three out of four from Fort Lewis over the weekend, including a couple of run-rule victories, to improve to 10-18 overall and 10-8 in the RMAC. Mines swept Saturday with 9-7 and 7-0 wins, the latter a fantastic one-hit complete-game shutout by Sadriena Rodriguez, then beat Fort Lewis 12-1 in game three before falling 11-2 in the finale. Rodriguez, Cassidy Chvatal, and Lauren Decker picked up wins in the circle as the Mines pitching staff had a 2.04 ERA for the weekend and held Skyhawk batters to .211 at the plate.

BOYD REACHES CENTURY MARK
Junior Renata Boyd became the newest member of Mines' 100-hits club on Saturday as she reached the milestone on an infield single against Fort Lewis, and now has 105 in her three seasons. The Orediggers' active hits leader, Boyd is a career .375 hitter and has big production numbers this season out of the leadoff spot, hitting a team-best .408 with a .419 on-base percentage and 19 runs scored.

DOUBLING UP
Kayleigh Krueger etched her name into the Mines record book on Sunday with a three-double performance in game 3 of the Fort Lewis series. Krueger went to bat three times in the game and each time ended up standing on second as she became only the fifth player in program history to hit three doubles in a game, and the first since Kara Jones in 2017, to tie the Mines single-game record. This season Krueger has a team-leading 10 doubles.

FRESHMEN BATS EMERGE
Two freshman bats have helped Mines hit .343 as a team through RMAC play as 2B Hannah Roberts and 3B/DP Lexie Semeyn have emerged in the everyday lineup. Roberts is leading the team in OPS at 1.012 this season, batting .400 and driving in 11 runs with a team-best .492 on-base percentage. Meanwhile, Semeyn is coming off a monster series against Fort Lewis that saw her slug 2.167 and hit .833 with three triples and two doubles in eight plate appearances; Semeyn is slugging a team-high .656 in RMAC play.

HELPING YOURSELF
In the span of three days last week, freshman pitcher Cassidy Chvatal picked up her first career hit, run, RBI, and home run as she was 3-for-5 combined at MSU Denver and against Fort Lewis. Chvatal recorded a single and later scored at MSU Denver on Thursday night for her first hit and run, then made her first home run a grand slam in her start against Fort Lewis on Saturday, earning the win in the circle as she went 2-for-3 in the game. It was the second straight weekend Mines hit a grand slam as Chvatal joined Sara Larson, who had a walk-off salami at UCCS.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
The Grizzlies are 8-23 overall and 3-17 in RMAC play, and have suffered consecutive series sweeps at the hands of Colorado Mesa and UCCS. They are led at the plate by Jade Garbiso, who is hitting .396 and slugging .725 (both team bests) with 15 RBI and four home runs. Sydney Muniz and Belinda Vargas co-lead the team with 23 RBI each. The Grizzlies have had five different pitchers start games, and their staff is led by Tayler Duncan and her 4.94 ERA. Jasmine Garbiso (3-3) leads the team in wins.

Mines and Adams State have played 125 times dating back to the very first season of Oredigger softball in 1983, with ASU leading the all-time series 72-53. Mines has dominated in recent years, however, going 8-2 over their last 10 games including a 3-1 series win in Golden last season.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will visit Colorado Christian April 9-10 and then return home to play Regis April 15-16.
