ALLENDALE, Mich. - Two Colorado School of Mines competitors in action Friday were minted as All-Americans on the second day of the 2022 NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships at Grand Valley State University.

Jake Mitchem and Grant Redmond earned honors as Mines took its total to seven for the meet.

In the 3,000m steeplechase, Mitchem snared third place in a pacey final that featured a new championship meet record. The race went out quickly as Adams State's Clement Duigou and Northwest Missouri State's Reece Smith immediately set a hard pace off the front and Mitchem had to lead out the chase group. The early two-man breakaway stayed out with Smith outkicking Duigou in a new meet record, and Mitchem closed alone in 8:45.10 for his second consecutive bronze medal in the event.

Redmond took home an 11th-place finish in the high jump to earn Second-Team All-America honors. Redmond cleared his first two bars at 2.02m and 2.07m (6-9.5) but bowed out at 2.10m (6-10.75). It marks the fourth career all-America finish for Redmond and second in a row outdoors.

Aryelle Wright notched a 13th-place showing in the 800m prelims in a time of 2:10.65. The junior just missed out on qualifying for finals placing fifth in her heat.

Saturday's final day of the meet will see Orediggers in action in the women's pole vault, women's high jump, and men's and women's 5,000m run.
