Mulholland Adds Five Orediggers to 2022 Squad

GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines Head Men's Soccer Coach Greg Mulholland unveiled his 2021-22 signing class with five new Orediggers set to compete in the fall of 2022.
 
Mulholland's latest batch of Orediggers touts experience and brings offensive firepower to the pitch. Two of the five are international transfers from Iceland and Germany, respectively. The three true freshmen hail from Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. From a position perspective, the incoming class addresses the midfield both offensively and defensively with one true striker and one true defenseman joining the fray.

Reykjavik, Iceland – University of Iceland (Menntaskolinn i Reykjavik) – Ithrottafelag Reykjavikur
 
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Transferred to Mines in January of 2022 from the University of Iceland after attending one semester, fall of 2021 … Graduated high school from Menntaskolinn i Reykjavik in Reykajavik, Iceland … Played prep/club soccer for Ithrottafelag Reykjavikur where he appeared in 90 percent of matches for the first team as a central and defensive midfielder … Helped IR reach the quarterfinals of the Icelandic Cup which was the top performance by the club in cup history … Run to the quarterfinals also marked the second-best performance by a divisional team all-time … Academically earned the student excellence award from his high school as well as an award from the Icelandic Mathematical Society and the Icelandic Physics Society … At the University of Iceland he received a grant from the Student Achievement and Incentive Fund … Also earned a spot on the Physics and Math Olympiad teams … Competed at the IPhO and EuPhO where he received an honorable mention in both competitions … Majoring in mechanical engineering at Mines.

HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Earned four varsity letters playing soccer at Bartlesville High School in Oklahoma … Lined up across the pitch at forward, midfielder and center back … Named All-District and All-State for his efforts at BHS … Helped his team to the Oklahoma State Playoffs … As a junior played in six games and scored two goals according to MaxPreps … Played club soccer for Tulsa SC ECNL … Academically was a member of the National Honor Society … Named Academic All-Conference and graduated with honors in English, math, science and world language … Plans to major in electrical engineering at Mines.
 
 
Tommy Jernigan – 6-2 – 190 – Defender

HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Attended Blue Valley North High School in Kansas … During that time, competed for Sporting Kansas City as a defender in the developmental academy and the MLS NEXT program … Played every match his freshman year and started every game of Copa Rayados in the fall of 2018 … Sophomore season featured an appearance at the winter showcase and him scoring the game-winning goal against FC Dallas … Junior season featured a modified scheduled in which he started five of eight matches … Prior to joining Sporting KC, trained with academy and pre-academy players in France … In the classroom was honored with the President's Award for Educational Excellence as well as Kansas Scholar and Kansas ACT Scholar status … Also was a member of the President's Honor Roll in four semesters while bringing home academic letters as a freshman and junior … Active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes … Plans to major in computer science at Mines.

HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Attended Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, Mo. … Played club soccer for St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy in the MLS NEXT program as a striker and attacking midfielder … Led the club team in scoring with 12 goals and two assists … received invitations to train with Vitesse in Holland and FC Lokomotiv in Moscow, Russia … In the classroom won the AP Scholar Award and was a member of the National Honor Society … Also earned Academic Honor Roll status all four years of high school … Plans to major in quantitative biosciences & engineering at Mines.
 
 
Marc Zimmerman – 5-8 – 140 – Midfielder
Orsingen-Nenzingen, Germany – HTWG Konstanz (Schulverbund Nellenburg) – FC Radolfzell
 
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Attended Schulverbund Nellenburg in Germany for his prep work … Enrolled in university at HTWG Konstanz, also in Germany … Latest club prior to transferring to Mines was FC Radolfzell … Scored four goals with one assist in 29 appearances for the club while earning zero cautions or ejections … Started 66 percent of the matches and played in 73 percent of the minutes while accounting for nearly 10 percent of the team's scoring … Played across the back line and midfield but focused mainly on the defensive midfield … Academically, earned the Alfred Maul Memorial Medal … Plans to major in electrical engineering at Mines.
