GOLDEN, Colo. - When the Colorado School of Mines football team gets their much-anticipated 2022 season underway, their home will have a new name: Alumni Field at Marv Kay Stadium.

With the installation of new artificial turf at the stadium this summer, the Mines football community is coming forward to help fund the project, with the field being named in honor of the many generations of football alumni to have played at NCAA Division II's oldest stadium.

To inspire contributions to this effort, Mines Athletics Hall of Famer Rob McKee '68 and his wife Ann have stepped up with a generous $250,000 match, with gifts up to $25,000 matched dollar-for-dollar until it's exhausted, and naming recognition for gifts of $5,000 or more - $2,500 for graduates of Mines in 2012 or later.

Donations made through the Mines Foundation help support this project.

Campbell Field, which was installed in 2010, was good to the Orediggers with a 56-12 record, six RMAC championships, and six NCAA Championship tournament appearances. The new Alumni Field will continue that tradition for years to come as the state-of-the-art AstroTurf RootZone 3D3 turf provides a safe, consistent, and fast playing surface for the Orediggers. The field is scheduled for completion in late July with the team reporting for camp in August to prepare for their season. The home opener takes place Sept. 10 at noon against Angelo State.
