Second-Half Goals Lift #3 DBU Over Mines, 3-2

DALLAS - #3 Dallas Baptist scored two quick-strike goals in the second half and held on to hand Colorado School of Mines its first defeat of the season, 3-2.

The Orediggers (2-1-1) leveled at 1-1 on Laura Butler's 66th-minute goal and received a late Reese McDermott strike, but couldn't find another to answer two Annie Severide goals that put the hosts ahead 3-1. Angelina Olmos scored the opener and assisted both Severide goals for the Patriots (3-0-0).

DBU led 1-0 at the half after outshooting Mines 10-5 in the opening 45 minutes and cashing in on Olmos' goal in the 28th minute. The Orediggers came out of the break firing, though, and found an equalizer on Butler's putback goal in the 66th minute. That set off a wild sequence of three goals in less than three minutes as Severide tallied 41 seconds after Butler to retake the lead, then hit again 1:14 after her first to make it a 3-1 match.

Mines had late life on McDermott's goal in the 82nd minute, and took three shots in the final minute hunting for another equalizer.
