Mines Club Cycling wins 5th consecutive national title for D2 Club Omnium and the overall for Club Omnium.

Mines Club Cycling is #1 (again!)

Club Cylcing wins their 5th consecutive national title for D2 Club Omnium and the overall for Club Omnium.

On October 12th-15th, Mines Club Cycling participated in the Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships at Ride Rock Creek in Zirconia, NC.

Racing began on Thursday with Dual Slalom. Eli Webster, qualified 14th, but made his way up to 2nd place for the first podium of the weekend. Ben Mackenzie walked away with a 5th place as well. Camden Gillis took 16th, John Weiler took 20th, and Mason Voyvodic took 24th.

Racing continued on Friday with the cross country race. Previous 2x national champion Keegan Pelton fought for a 4th place finish. Nathan Bigelow took 8th place, John Weiler took 10th place, Sterling Schrader took 11th, Theodore Fabian took 15th, Ethan Cefus took 20th, Rylan Birch took 29th and Camden Gillis followed in 30th in a field of 56. For women Mahika Peterson took 6th place, and Alissa Dent took 13th place in a field of 28.

Saturday's event provided an exciting short track race. In the women's event Mahika Peterson took a 4th place finish and Alissa Dent took a 7th place finish out of 27. For the men, Keegan Pelton took 8th, John Weiler took 9th, Sterling Schrader took 13th, Theodore Fabian took 21st, Ethan Cefus took 26th, and Camden Gillis took 28th out of 49 riders.

Sunday morning began with the downhill race. Ben Mackenize, won the national champion jersey with 0.6 second lead on second. Eli Webster took 7th, Mason Voyvodic took 12th, Christopher Fischer took 21st, John Weiler took 33rd, and Camden Gillis took 43rd out of 54 riders.

The weekend concluded with Team Relay. The team, made up Keegan Pelton, Mahika Peterson, Alissa Dent, and Nathan Bigelow, moved up to 2nd place in the final lap. Team relay solidified Mines' top spot on the podium.

Mines also had two individual omnium riders who participated in all events this weekend. John Weiler took 4th, and Camden Gillis took 6th. The team this weekend also scored the top points towards Omnium in all of the Men's races this weekend. The consistency and dedication of the entire team led to Mines Club Cycling taking their 5th consecutive national championship title for D2 Club Omnium and to win the overall Club Omnium.
