AMARILLO, Texas - Lukas Taggart is second and
Max Lange fourth through 36 holes to lead Colorado School of Mines at West Texas A&M's Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational at Amarillo Country Club.
The Orediggers continued their consistent play, recording dual rounds of 288 on the par-71 track to be a competitive fifth in the team standings at +8, 10 shots off Dallas Baptist's -2 lead and clustered among eight teams between +2 and +12 representing second through ninth places. UTPB is second at +2, West Texas A&M third at +4, and Midwestern State fourth at +7 ahead of Mines.
Taggart is second at -6 on twin rounds of 68, three shots off the lead pace of UT Permian Basin's Sangha Park. Taggart marked six birdies in his morning round, then had four birdies with an eagle in the afternoon. Meanwhile, Lange also had identical scores with two one-under 70s, and his second round also included an eagle on the 558-yard 13th as part of a torrid back-nine stretch that saw him go five-under in a six-hole stretch.
Ethan Adam is next on the leaderboard for Mines at T46 (+6), bouncing back from a first-round 76 to card 72 after lunch, while
Lucas Schulte had a solid start of 74 before shooting 78 in the second round to be T63 at +10.
Owen Cornmesser was the non-counter at 79-81, putting him 89th at +18.
Tuesday's third and final round will go off in tee times beginning at 8:39 a.m. Central.
