WESTMINSTER, Colo. -
Max Lange and
Lukas Taggart are once again in the top 10 and Colorado School of Mines sits third through 36 holes at the Centennial Cup at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve.
Lange is second and Taggart tied for sixth to lead team rounds of 280 and 286 on Monday, with the Orediggers (-10) trailing leaders Colorado Mesa (-21) and #25 West Texas A&M (-12). Lange (-7) was the co-leader in the clubhouse before Colorado Mesa's Dylan Everett pulled one shot ahead with a final-hole birdie.
Lange shot rounds of 68 and 69 keyed by a first-round stretch of three straight birdies around the turn to move into contention. Meanwhile Taggart (-4) shot 69 and 71, also holing three straight birdies in the first round and then again making three in a six-hole stretch in his second round to climb the leaderboard.
Carter Colli is Mines' third man on the leaderboard tied for 12th (-1) on rounds of 70 and 73; his first round was his best of the fall.
Ethan Adam went 73-73 to be +2 at T27, and
Charlie Tran was the non-scorer on rounds of 74 and 78 to be 46th at +8. Playing as an individual,
Owen Cornmesser carded consecutive rounds of 72 to be T16 at even par.
CMU's Everett (-8) leads Lange (-7) and West Texas A&M's Luis Palomo (6) in the medalist hunt.
The final round of the tournament goes off at approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday following the conclusion of the second round by three pairings, who were halted due to darkness.
