Academic All-Conference List
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic conference released its All-Academic First Team for women's soccer Thursday and saw Colorado School of Mines forward
Reese McDermott named Academic Player of the Year while defender
Katie Koehler earned the third academic honor of her career from the league by being named First Team All-Academic.
Sunday McDermott was named RMAC Player of the Year and earned First Team Academic All-RMAC honors for the second season in a row. She was also named to the Academic All-District squad by the College Sports Communicators a season ago. One of the most prolific goal scorers in the RMAC since her arrival in the fall of 2021, McDermott has already posted record numbers not even three full seasons into her career while also meeting and exceeding the rigorous academic demands at Mines. The junior from Houston scored her 11th goal and recorded her eighth assist of the season in the Orediggers' 4-0 semifinal win over Regis Wednesday to advance to the RMAC Tournament title match Sunday against Colorado Mesa. McDermott currently holds a 3.922 GPA in Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering. She becomes the third Oredigger to earn Academic Player of the Year honors in program history, joining Jennifer Kendall (2017) and Kayla Mitchell (2009).
Koehler and has now been named RMAC First Team All-Academic each of the three years she has been eligible for the honor. Named a First Team Academic All-American in 2022 by the College Sports Communicators and a CSC Academic All-District selection in 2021, Koehler has consistently been an elite academic while also being a significant contributor for the Orediggers on the pitch. She helped Mines work their 10th consecutive shutout with their 4-0 win over Regis in the RMAC semifinals Wednesday to advance to the tournament title game and has helped spearhead a defensive effort that has not allowed a goal in the last 986:08 of game action, dating back to October 1. Koehler has currently matched her career high in scoring this season with four goals while also collecting the first two assists of her career as well. She currently holds a 3.966 GPA in Electrical Engineering.
An additional 16 Orediggers were also recognized for their efforts in the classroom and were subsequently named the RMAC Academic Honor Roll, which included
