GOLDEN, Colo. - Thirty-five current and former Colorado School of Mines student-athletes earned college degrees on Dec. 15 as part of the university's winter Commencement ceremonies at Lockridge Arena.
Mines student-athletes earned 21 bachelor's and 14 master's degrees
For the first time ever, every member of the graduating class had been an RMAC champion, either individually or with a team, at some point in their careers. In total, the class included nine all-Americans, two Academic All-Americans, three national champions, and 34 NCAA qualifiers.
Football was the most represented team among the graduates with 25 members, most of whom received their degrees in absentia as they prepared for the national championship game in Texas. The cross country and track & field programs had six graduates, with women's soccer having two and baseball, men's soccer, and wrestling having one each.
Amena Nelson, earning her master's in Advanced Manufacturing, was the lone dual-sport athlete in the class having been a standout for both women's soccer and track & field.
Track & field's
Everett Delate and
Hannah Miller were selected as the Presidential Senior Scholar-Athletes; Delate is a two-time all-American hurdler, while Miller was the 2023 NCAA indoor pole vault champion and a five-time NCAA podium finisher. They were also each selected as the outstanding graduates for their departments (Delate for Economics and Miller for Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering), and football's
Jack Walters was selected as the Mechanical Engineering department's Outstanding Student-Athlete.
