United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –
The United Soccer Coaches announced its 2023 All-Region Teams for women's soccer this week and saw three members of the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer program recognized, with strikers Bella Campos and Reese McDermott named First Team All-South Central Region while center back Natalie Rouse was named a Second Team honoree.

Already an All-American and First Team All-Region pick by the D2 CCA, Campos continues to pile up the hardware following a dazzling debut season. The RMAC Freshman of the Year set the Mines record for most goals in a season by a freshman with 16 and led the RMAC in goals and points, doing so as mostly a reserve coming off the bench 16 times in 22 matches. She also added four assists for 36 points, also the most in the conference this season. The Highland Village, Texas native had three game-winning goals and scored twice in her collegiate debut against San Francisco State while also posting the second postseason hat trick in program history in the RMAC tournament quarterfinals against Fort Lewis and scored in five straight matches from October 15-November 5. Campos also epitomized what it meant to provide instant offense, scoring 10 of her 16 goals within eight minutes of entering a match, with six coming inside of three minutes and three within a minute of starting her shift.

A former All-American herself, McDermott earned her second All-Region honor from the United Soccer Coaches in as many seasons after also earning First Team All-Region honors from the D2 CCA late last month. The junior out of Houston turned in another stellar season, scoring 11 times with a career-high eight assists for 30 points and finishing second in the RMAC in assists for the season. She swept both the RMAC Player and Academic Player of the Year awards and led the conference in shots and shots on goal. She had four game-winning goals and recorded her second career hat trick against Black Hills State on September 29, needing just 36 minutes to score three times. McDermott also had a pair of four-match streaks with at least one point during the season and ends the season ranking fourth all-time at Mines in goals (34), points (80), game-winning goals (11), shots (209) and shots on goal (99).

Rouse's Second Team selection adds another accolade to her impressive body of work compiled this year as a transfer in her first season in Golden. An All-Region and Second Team All-America center back as selected by the D2 CCA that took home RMAC Defensive Player of the Week five times en route to earning Defensive Player of the Year honors, the redshirt sophomore was a dangerous part of the Orediggers' set piece game this year, scoring all six of her goals by being on the back end of either free kicks or corner kicks during the season while also adding an assist for 13 points. One of three players to start all 22 matches this season, she played all but 25 of a possible 2,000 minutes during the course of the season. Rouse was also named to the RMAC All-Tournament and named a CSC Academic All-District selection.
