NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Polls: WBCA | D2SIDA
GOLDEN, Colo. – Week eleven of the NCAA Division II women's basketball national polls came out Tuesday afternoon and the Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team appeared in both the coaches' and media rankings.
The Orediggers climbed four spots to #18 in the Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll sponsored by D2SIDA. The Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) dropped Mines one spot to #15 in the WBCA NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll. Two more wins over the last week fueled the Orediggers' climb in the media poll as they defeated Fort Lewis, 74-45, and Adams State, 80-69.
Ashley Steffeck was the individual star as she put up 20.5 points per game and pulled down 4.5 rebounds per game along with nine assists, nine steals and two blocks. Her week also included a 29-point outburst against Adams State.
In the rest of the rankings, Ashland remained the consensus #1 team in the country, collecting all of the first place votes. South Central Region foes Texas Woman's and Angelo State were also ranked. The coaches put TWU at #4 and Angelo State tied for #20. The media ranked Texas Woman's #3 and ASU #14. Also notable was Nebraska-Kearney which Mines faced in the 2022-23 home opener. The WBCA had UNK #12 and D2SIDA put the Lopers #17.
Mines is back on the road this weekend with a trip to South Dakota. The Orediggers face Black Hills State on Friday at 5 p.m. and take on South Dakota Mines on Saturday at 4 p.m. Live stats and free video on the RMAC Network will be offered at www.minesathletics.com.
