Sullivan and Thistlewood Headline All-RMAC Selections

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its postseason All-Conference honors and individual award winners for men's basketball on Wednesday and saw three members of the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball program earn All-RMAC laurels, as Brendan Sullivan and Adam Thistlewood were both named First Team honorees while Sam Beskind earned Honorable Mention Honors.
 
Sullivan earns the fourth First Team All-RMAC honor of his career and was already named RMAC Academic Player of the Year for the third consecutive season in mid-February. He has started all 29 games this season and has an active streak of 111 consecutive starts dating back to the 2018-19 season. This season, the Highlands Ranch native has averaged 13.5 PPG and 3.6 RPG in 30.5 minutes per night, and is shooting .522/.433/.810 this season and has made a team-leading 61 three-point field goals. He also has 57 assists and 30 steals along with 18 blocks and has gone for double figures 21 times this season, with six 20-point games.
 
Thistlewood, a graduate transfer from Colorado State and Golden native in his first season with Mines, has started every game for the Orediggers this season, averaging 30.5 minutes per night and leads the team in scoring at 15.8 PPG and rebounding at 6.6 RPG with 67 assists, 20 steals and 11 blocks. A 51.1% shooter this season, Thistlewood ranks among the top 10 in the RMAC in scoring and rebounding and has scored in double figures in 25 games this season with eight 20-point games including Tuesday night when he scored 23 points in Mines' quarterfinal win over Chadron State. He also earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on January 16 and was also named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List in January.
 
Beskind, a graduate transfer from Stanford also in his first season with the Orediggers, has started all but one of the 29 games this season, and ranks among the top three in the conference this season with 110 assists. A 49.7% shooter this season, Beskind is averaging 9.2 PPG and 4.2 RPG while averaging 27.5 minutes per game and also has 37 steals and four blocks and has scored in double-digits 13 times over the course of the season.
 
Black Hills State's Joel Scott was named Player of the Year while Colorado Mesa's Mac Riniker took home Defensive Player of the Year honors. MSU Denver's Brayden Maldonado and New Mexico Highlands' TJ Sanchez were named Co-Freshmen of the Year and CMU's Mike DeGeorge was named Coach of the Year.
 
Mines' postseason will continue Friday night in the semifinals of the 2023 RMAC Men's Basketball Championship when they take on top-seeded #14/16 Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction at 5 p.m.
