VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -
Colorado School of Mines recorded its best-ever women's team finish as the Orediggers minted five more all-Americans on the final day of the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Mines women scored 24 team points to tie for eighth, their first-ever top-10 showing and best ever, as Aryelle Wright finished fifth in the 800m in record-setting time. The men had a solid run of their own, finishing 14th with 19.5 points as Luke Julian scored a silver medal in the mile and Loic Scomparin and Hunter Potrykus found their way to the podium.

Saturday started with Potrykus in the pole vault as he earned his first career all-America honor tying for eighth. Potrykus cleared 4.85m and 5.00m bars before bowing out at 5.10m; he and Findlay's Gabe Makin had the same makes and misses to share the final podium spot. It capped an exceptional weekend for Mines vaulters that saw Hannah Miller win the women's championship and Avery Herbold finish 11th on Friday.

In the mile, Julian contended to the finish to take the silver medal in 4:07.71, his milestone 10th career all-America award. He and Loic Scomparin later ran the 3,000m as Julian did early work for his teammate to propel Scomparin to eighth in 8:05.73 after a wild final two laps tore the field apart with Scomparin in the lead group. Julian closed 14th in 8:41.19.

Wright became the first Oredigger woman to stand on the podium in the 800m, breaking her program record for the second straight day and third time this season to take fifth in 2:07.60. Wright deleted nearly two full seconds off her previous program record of 2:09.58 this weekend, including her 2:08.30 qualifying time on Friday.

In the women's 3,000m, Molly Maksin broke teammate Zoe Baker's program record as both raced in their second event of the weekend. Maksin ran a strong second half of the race to finish 10th in 9:31.58, earning second-team all-America honors with a massive personal best of more than 25 seconds. A day after earning a podium spot in the 5K, Baker finished 13th in the 3K with her own personal best of 9:33.05 as both women ran under the Mines record pace.

For the weekend, the Orediggers had 15 all-Americans (eight first-team), two national champions in Hannah Miller and Dillon Powell, and hit three new program records.
