PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' throwers got the outdoor track & field season started with some solid early marks at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Early Bird Invitational.
Oredigger throwers competed in the hammer, javelin, and discus on Friday and Saturday in the first of three straight trips to CSU Pueblo for the team to start the 2023 outdoor season.Â
Davin Kiesby led the way in Friday's hammer throw, placing third with a 54.26m heave with
Arvid Veidmark IV placing sixth at 52.59m.
Kitt Rupar led three women in the hammer hitting a personal-best 44.35m to place seventh, with
Jennifer Jarnagin 10th (40.93m) and
Rylie Ward 11th (37.80m).
Mines had two javelin entrants, with
Garrett Lanker marking a best of 49.43m to place fifth on the men's side and Jarnagin throwing 25.10m for 16th in the women's competition.Â
Saturday's discus events saw Veidmark lead Mines on the men's side with a third-place spin of 46.39m, with Kiesby placing eighth at 41.06m. Rupar placed fifth in the women's event hitting 38.33m on her third throw, with Ward 10th at 29.66m.Â
The Orediggers head back to the ThunderBowl next weekend for the Spank Blasing Invitational on March 24-25.
